Is woven with the narratives of both Thier parents, Rich and Maggie Corthell, who modeled servant leadership through their Peace Corps service, foster parenting, mission trips, and extensive volunteering. Raised with the values of authenticity, curiosity, and making a positive impact, we both pursued careers in the helping professions: Kimere as a mental health and school counselor, and Katie in social services and recreational therapy.
Our diverse professional backgrounds encompass work in various sectors, from schools to prisons, and with diverse populations spanning age, ability, and ethnicity. Throughout these experiences, we encountered systemic barriers in education, mental health, healthcare, and access to opportunities, fueling our aspiration to establish a nonprofit.
The sudden loss of our father in 2019 propelled us to turn this dream into reality, leading us to found Mind the Gap Together, Inc. in 2021. Committed to dismantling barriers in education, career, housing, healthcare, and counseling, we embarked on this journey to transform our pain into purpose.
